Fashion Week

Christian Siriano Fall 2011

So its New York fashion week and I have been neglecting this blog far too long- so let's begin the model abuse, lol. I first want to start with Christian Siriano's Fall 2011 fashion show. I have added a link above for your viewing pleasure. Do you remember Christian Siriano? He won Project Runway some time back. Anyway, his collection was okay but it did not blow me away. First of all- what is with all that black? Black here, black there... it drove me to the depths of depression. Yes, in the end there was some color but not enough. It was a very mature collection for this youngster and some pieces did stun. Like the gown at 10:37 was just..... mmmuah.... I loved it!  The one that came after though, was...ummm....well, let's just say some old lady is missing her dirty, pink bath rug. Lastly, of course I have to comment on the model abuse that occurred. First, the long gowns that made them trip and the supremely high-heeled shoes that practically twisted their ankles causing them to fall. Oh, the wonderful life of a starved and malnourished amazon woman.

BCBG Max Azria Fall/Winter 2011

This collection was amazing!! These looks are not for everyone but it could convince anyone to fall in love with BCBG. The look was simple, long and flowing. These silk pieces hung long and low on the body which accentuated the plunging necklines and floor skimming hemlines. The inspiration was pure lines and simplicity and it was communicated very well in this collection. I loved the draping and the overall sheer look! The colors were fresh and came together very well with each individual piece. It was interesting how the designer added a white sort of sheer body suit under each piece so that the models, or whoever, would not look indecent. What surprised me a bit was the chunky-heeled boots paired with the outfits and how great they came out. Who would think that a sheer outfit and a chunky boot would look so great together! This collection reminded me of a modern 70's, hippie chic look but so far from the hippie. I want to purchase one of these pieces right now- I don't know if I can pull any of these looks off but I want one...Now. Amazing!

Busy Busy Busy

I have been spending the last month preparing my transfer applications and sending them to different Fashion schools. It was quite a lot of work. I have been sketching different outfits and prepping them, then to decide they aren't good enough. But now, I have finished and have submitted my applications before the deadline which has me breathing a sigh of relief. I have applied to Parsons in New York which would be my dream school and I have also applied to several other schools. I am hoping and praying everything goes as planned and if not, I am just glad to transfer to a better Fashion school than the one I was previously attending. Wish me luck!

I am also in the process of finding another job or internship, in the field of fashion of course. I am currently working at a grocery store as a cashier and I just need another job as I take this semester off. I hope I can find something soon. I am so tired of working at a grocery store, ugh
